KitchenAid Facts!!

139

In a world where everything eventually becomes oblivious, very few objects manage to escape this fate and be called ‘ICONIC’. Be it the ‘Bakery Industry’ as a section or the entire Culinary World as one (which by the way is expanding tremendously), the word ‘Iconic’ has become synonymous with ‘KitchenAid Stand Mixers’.

Here are some lesser known facts about The Iconic KitchenAid Stand Mixers which have been present in your kitchen for over 96 years!:

>> The story behind it’s name is not much of a secret , but when I first heard of it, I realized…if it was me..I too would have come up with the same name and may be you too!. So, the story is: When the wives of company executives were trying their hands on the first mixers, one of them claimed, “I don’t know what you call it, but it’s the best kitchen aid I’ve ever had.” Hence, KitchenAid was named!

>> One machine that does everything!
More than 14 Stand Mixer Attachments have been launched in the past years. Proving our love for cakes and bakes, the Flex-edge Beater was a huge success, and who does not love fresh homemade pasta? The Pasta Roller and Cutter Set Attachment has been very well received too. Through the years, some attachments have been discontinued, including the can opener, knife sharpener, oil dripper (for making mayonnaise) and the pea sheller. This is unbelievable! The first ice cream maker attachment was wooden. The newest Stand Mixer Attachment to join the attachment family is the ‘Spiralizer’.

>>  There is a  KitchenAid Museum called the ‘KitchenAid Experience’  for the brand at the factory in Greenville, Ohio. All the Stand Mixers, the evolution of Stand Mixer modes, the discontinued colors and discontinued attachments have been displayed there. The Stand Mixer owned by Julia Child is also on display. Now this is a must visit!!

>> KitchenAid Stand Mixers are loved so much, that many users have personalized their Stand Mixers with tattoos and paintings. They have been a huge success in the culinary world, have you ever noticed that they have been a reoccurring product on shows like Masterchef and F.R.I.E.N.D.S?

>> A huge advantage of KitchenAid Stand Mixer design is that all the old attachments still work. Can you imagine, all the 1950’s attachment could still work on your stand mixer after all these years!

>> KitchenAid Stand Mixer’s have had many fans…but do you know who were the earliest fans? No?…It was the Navy Sailors! The United States Navy, was always looking for a way to save sailors time and efficiently feed large crews hence, ordered Model H mixers for three of its ships, where they proved so valuable that the device became part of Navy ship’s standard equipment.

>>  Ever wondered why the KitchenAid Stand Mixers have such a great performance?
It’s due to the ‘Planetary Action’. As a beater spins, it also rotates around within the bowl, which ensures more contact with the ingredients.

>>  The KitchenAid Stand Mixers are made to last!!
On the 75th anniversary in 1994, KitchenAid launched a search to find the oldest working example of  its mixers. Ninety-one-year-old Maude Humes of Pennsylvania, won $7500 for owning a working 1919 Model H. Humes inherited the ancient mixer from an aunt.  So all you Stand Mixer owners, keep  it safe…who knows we might have the same hunt in the future.
